Privacy Policy

Look, we need to be upfront about this
Privacy policies are usually written by lawyers in a language nobody understands. We're trying to do better here. This is how we actually handle your data, explained like you're talking to a real person.
What information we collect
When you visit our site, we collect the basics - stuff like your IP address, what browser you're using, which pages you looked at. Pretty standard internet stuff. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we'll obviously need your email address. That's kind of the whole point.
We don't go digging for information we don't need. If we ask for something, it's because we actually use it. We're not one of those companies that hoovers up everything they can just because they can.
Cookies and tracking
Yeah, we use cookies. Most websites do. They help us understand how people use the site and whether our content is actually worth reading. We use Google Analytics because honestly it works well and gives us useful data. If you don't like cookies, most browsers let you turn them off - though some features might not work as smoothly.
What we do with your data
Your email goes into our newsletter system. That's it. We're not selling your information to dodgy marketing companies or spamming you with rubbish you didn't ask for. When we send you something, it's because we wrote something we think you'll actually want to read.
The analytics data helps us figure out which articles people care about and which ones miss the mark. Are people reading about UK politics or fashion trends? This stuff matters when you're running a blog.
Third parties
We work with a few third-party services. Our email provider handles the newsletter distribution. Google Analytics tracks site usage. The ad networks on our site - yeah, they collect data too for showing relevant ads. We try to work with companies that aren't completely terrible about privacy, but let's be real, the advertising industry has issues.
Your rights
You can ask us what data we have on you. You can tell us to delete it. You can unsubscribe from emails anytime - there's literally a link at the bottom of every newsletter. If you want to know something or change something, just email us at [email protected]. We're actual humans who read and respond to emails.
Data security
We take reasonable precautions to keep your data secure. Our servers are protected, we use encryption where it makes sense, and we don't store payment information because we don't handle payments directly. But nothing online is 100% secure and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and put the new date at the top. For major changes, we'll probably send an email to subscribers. We're not going to suddenly start doing something dodgy without telling you.
Questions or concerns
Got questions about privacy? Think we messed something up? Email us at [email protected] or call +44 113 242 7030. We'd rather you ask than worry about it.
