VISIONER started in 2019 because we were fed up with the same recycled content everywhere. You know the type - clickbait headlines, sponsored posts disguised as articles, and opinions that feel like they've been through a corporate filter ten times over.
We're based in Leeds but cover everything from Brighton to Edinburgh. Lifestyle, culture, sport, social commentary - whatever's worth talking about in the UK right now. Our team is small but we actually care about what we write. No algorithm tells us what to publish and no advertiser gets to influence our opinions.
Honestly? We're just people who like writing and think there's still room for independent voices online. We're not trying to be the biggest blog in the UK. We'd rather have 2,000 readers who actually engage with our content than 200,000 who just skim headlines.
When we review something, it's because we tried it. When we have an opinion, we own it. Sometimes we get things wrong and we'll admit it. That's part of being human rather than a content machine churning out SEO-optimized rubbish.
There are five of us writing regularly, plus a couple of contributors who chip in when they've got something to say. We've got different backgrounds - journalism, teaching, hospitality, tech - which means we look at things from different angles. That's useful when you're trying to cover everything from fashion trends to rugby to political scandals.
Director James Thompson handles the business side so the rest of us can focus on writing. We all meet up in person once a month to argue about what we're working on and remind ourselves why we started this thing in the first place.
Got a story tip? Think we got something wrong? Just want to tell us we're idiots? Email [email protected] or ring us on +44 113 242 7030. We read everything that comes in, even if we don't always have time to respond immediately.
